ECCC Community Guidelines

These are the guidelines for interaction within the ECCC Official Fan Group. These will be used as our official stance and our expectations for all members in the Official Facebook group, as well as at community meetups throughout the year.

Who can join the facebook group or attend a meetup?

  • Anyone who wants to engage in awesome, thoughtful, fun, and interesting conversations with fellow ECCC fans
  • Anyone regardless of identity, age, race, religion, orientation, or political affiliation
  • Anyone, regardless of whether or not they classify themselves as a hardcore nerd, slightly geeky, or con-curious. There’s no gatekeeping here, geek out – or don’t!

Posts that are allowed:

  • Posts that celebrate ECCC, fandom, cosplay, pop and nerd culture, Seattle, or anything related to those topics. Videos, topics, anything that encourages positive conversation among group members
  • Constructive feedback posts, questions about the show & other general inquiries
  • Imagery from ECCC and other local nerd events, of cosplay, cosplay progress, ideas, inspiration, memes, etc.

Comments or posts that are not allowed:

  • Personal business promotion and/or sales posts
  • Ticket buy/sell/trade threads. ECCC policies state that tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable & non-resellable
  • Salacious matter and sexually explicit imagery or remarks
  • Offensive slang, imagery or remarks
  • Racist/sexist imagery or remarks
  • Anything overtly political or religiously inflammatory in the form of imagery or remarks
  • In short: Be nice, be cool and respect each other!

Reasons members may be muted or banned, or posts may be deleted. Action taken is up to the discretion of the admin and the level of offense:

  • An abundance of repetitive negative comments
  • Spamming
  • Name calling
  • Offensive language
  • Trolling
  • Harassing group members
  • Threatening group members

  • How to report a post for being spam, offensive, or something else:
    • Click on the grey arrow on the top right of the post
    • Click Report to Admin
  • We reserve the right to amend these rules as we see fit, depending on how the group develops and grows
  • We welcome your feedback, so if you got it, post it
  • Admins will make all decisions regarding banning or blocking members based on these guidelines. All decisions are final. Admins reserve the right to ban or block any members if they are perceived to have violated one or more of these guidelines.
