Most of the fantasy novels we discovered as readers new to the genre were books the whole family could read together without worrying about graphic descriptions of sex or violence. But much of the popular fantasy being created today contains images that are simply too graphic for some readers. There’s a place for gritty realism in fantasy, but how much is too much? And is there still room for the family-friendly heroic fantasy that first introduced so many of us to the genre? Join Terry Brooks, Robin Hobb, Tamora Pierce, and Jeff Wheeler for a lively debate.
